In the early hours of Monday, gunmen invaded the residence of Ikpomolokpo at Gege ward in Ado Local Government Area of Benue State, killed the son of clan head and abducted the daughter.

Source from the community told our correspondent that some unknown gunmen at about 2 am on Monday stormed the community and went straight to the residence of the clan head.

“The incident happened around 2 am today (Monday) when we heard gunshots from the residence of our clan head. But no one could come out.

Chairman of the local government, James Oche who confirmed the incident to our correspondent, said that he received a distress call early hours of Monday.

“Some gunmen at about 2 am today entered into the clan head of Ipomoloko through the fence and asked for the wife of the clan head from the son whose name is Thompson.

“The young man told them that  he did not know the whereabouts of his mother and they shot him dead they now took the sister away,” the chairman said.

Oche said that immediately he alerted troops of Operation Whirl Stroke but before they could get to the place the gunmen had escaped to Atiga forest around Okpokwu LG.

“As am talking to you now, the troops are on their trail,” Oche said.

Efforts to get the reaction of the spokesman of Operation Whirl Stroke, Hussaini Audu, were not successful as he claimed to be in a meeting when called.

Also, the State Command Public Relations Officer, DSP Catherine Anene, did not answer calls made to her phone.
