The police have raided and destroyed an illegal detention facility operated by a disbanded vigilance group in Elele in the Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The state command stated further that it raided the place over the disappearance of a 17-year-old schoolboy, adding that the Elele Commander of the disbanded vigilante group, codenamed OSPAC, identified as Fucking Naira, had been declared.

The boy, Chibuike Victor, a student of Jesus the Saviour Secondary School, Elele allegedly went missing while in the detention of OSPAC.

A viral video on social media showed a young man expressing fear that the boy may have been killed, while his mother, identified only as Anesthesia, called on the public to help her in finding her son.

The voice in the video said, “This young man is missing and may have been killed. His mother, Anesthesia, needs our help to get his story out.

“He is 17-year-old Chibuike Nwokedi, an SS1 student of Jesus Our International Secondary School, Elele in Rivers State.

“It was said that he was expelled from school because he went home before the closing time around the Easter holiday period, and has been missing since then.”

But the spokesman for the state police command, Nnamdi Omoni, said the OSPAC commander fled with some members of the group when the police stormed the camp.

He added, “We made some arrests when we stormed the OSPAC camp. The commander of OSPAC and others fled. We released some inmates who they kept in their detention facility and destroyed their camp.

“The commanded has been declared wanted by the police. If seen, he will be arrested and prosecuted.” Omoni said the police was prosecuting two security guards of the school who handed the boy over to OSPAC.

He also disclosed that one Alumeta Nnenna who linked the school security guards to the group, and  one George Udom, were also facing prosecution.
